Is Windows Live Photo Gallery updated/improved from time to time? I've had my version for a year or so. If it is updated/improved, can I download the new version? If so, what do I do with my current version - uninstall or ? And what happens to the thousands of existing photos in my WLPG? Are they all in the Pictures Library and will be picked up when the updated Photo Gallery is downloaded or ??? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, Windows Live Essentials 2011 has been released. You can get all or just parts of it and as RR has stated download only those parts you wish to use.Windows Live Photo Gallery is part of Windows Live Essentials.

Thanks for the information and advice. Really appreciated. Before I download the 2011 WLPG, I still have the other questions, i.e. ...what do I do with my current version - uninstall or ? And what happens to the thousands of existing photos in my WLPG? Are they all in the Pictures Library and will be picked up when the updated Photo Gallery is downloaded or ??? Any further thoughts?

You can safely install the new Live Photo Gallery overtop of your prior version without any disruption to your photo collection.
For a direct full offline install of Windows Live Essentials 2011 see JoeP's thread "Windows Live Essentials 2011 released".
