Hi Loungers, I, in the past thought a passworded account in Vista was not necessary, as only me uses the PC. I read on another forum (of which I'm not a member) that this can affect the amount of UAC pop-ups. I have used with & without a password BUT NEVER with UAC off and never noticed any difference, have you ?

All of my accounts when I used Vista and now Windows 7 were passworded. I'd never have an account without a password. I'm not aware of any difference in UAC regarding presence or absence of a password. Also, I think it is foolhardy to run with UAC off. There is no good reason to do so. For most users, once your software is installed you seldom see a UAC prompt.

Can you provide a link to the other forum so we can see the context of the discussion?
