    Edit Subject (Outlook 2000 SR-1)

I know that you can open an e-mail message and edit the Subject line. However, I believe there is a way to single-click in the Inbox Subject line and be able to edit the subject.

    How?

Why would you want to do this? OK - none of my business!
This facility needs the 'allow in-cell editing' option.
With Inbox selected and on display :
View | Current View | Customise Current View | Other Settings, then in the Row options, set Allow in-cell editing
OK out of the dialogues and you will be able to edit the subject line.

actually, lots of reasons - mainly to make the subject more approprate so it can be located easier. the originial subject remains in the header and can't be changed and it should thread by that subject line, so all messages are kept together.
