I usually use FireFox for my internet searches, but a strange thing is happening the last week or two.

When I am viewing a website using FireFox another window opens in IE with a website similar or the same to what I was originally reading.

Why is IE popping open and how can I prevent it from happening?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Unless you are viewing a page in IE Tab -- which really is IE so maybe it's a rogue popup -- I would suspect either an add-on or some external software (adware, spyware, whatever you want to call it).

I know for sure it is not a IE tab. I only have FireFox open.

I will run CCCleaner and SpyBot search and destroy to see it clear the problem.

Any other program you can suggest?

Sorry, I meant the IE Tab add-on for Firefox.

With only FireFox open to a website, a new widow will open in IE separate from FireFox. It is usually a similar site to
what I was looking at in FireFox or a web-ad with a similar subject.

I feel it is some adware pop-up, but I have gone to FireFox "Tools", "Add-Ons" and disabled or deleted all unknown items.

I also ran the two programs mention before, but with all this I still get the pop-ups.
I have downloaded the two programs you mentioned and will let you know of their results.

    Thanks for your assistance.
