    Gifs to stationary

Daughter wants to place a .gif onto stationary and saving the 'template' for future use. I have no idea what goes on with this stuff - I don't use Works - but she is able to use clipart on stationary and saving it, but she can't do it with .gifs. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29> I have saved to her GIF folder various items she wants to use in stationary - found via Google image search - but don't know what to do next. This is not stationary for OExpress, but using Wordpad. The clipart she was using before comes with Works.

    TIA

All she wants is to get 'cookie monster' saved for her boyfriends stationary, so that when he writes to her using this stationary, his 'cookie' is on the bottom or wherever it is placed when the sheet is printed...I think what daughter is talking about is 'pre-printed blank sheet with 'cookiemonster' on it and pages could be printed for handwritten use...like the kind one buys in stores, etc. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Re: Gifs to stationary

Lonnie, the Works package (except 2001) includes a fairly decent word processor which produces *.wps documents. Just locate cursor on page, and insert ( clipart etc).

Or is the problem "convert" gif to bmp or jpg or whatever?

You may have to copy the images to a folder that Works can find.

Then "save-as filename, template", and she is in business.

    <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29> Sorry, but haven't a clue.
The clipart she has been using comes with Works...she knows how to use those. Also, she knows how to use clipart from other sources (saved to a folder) for inserting into email (OE)...but doesn't know how to do the same into Works.
Need real easy explanation on how to do this. I can't help her, as I don't use Works at all.
Remember, this has got to be saved for sheets to be printed out with the gif on it - not having to insert it everytime. I have no idea what this is all about - I have no interest in Works or Word - but she uses this stuff at times. I have no idea how to convert gif into bmp or jpeg or whatever - don't use anything but gifs when I do use them in email. So, that I wouldn't know either.
    TIA

    Re: Gifs to stationary

I'll try again. She is using Wordpad (yes?). She is not using Works (not even clipart). She will be using a gif folder with images.

    Then, create a template:
    1. Open a wordpad blank page, do letterhead if desired
    2. Set the cursor on the page to the top-left corner where the gif will sit
    3. 'Insert' an 'object' (browse up the gif, then insert )
    4. Save-as 'filename.rtf'. This becomes the template.

To print , open filename.rtf, and print. Out comes the blank sheet(s) of paper with gif on it.

    I have no idea. It opens up in Works...looks like Wordpad...but I haven't the foggiest idea <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
I will just give her a printout of your reply and just let her fool around with it...afterall...it is her thing, not mine <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
Thanks for the <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15>...will let you know when she gets around to trying your directions, what the results are. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Lonnie... when are you going to tell your daughter to log on to the lounge herself? It'd be a lot easier for her to get the support she requires, if she's able to ask questions and respond to other questions herself, rather than going "through the middle-woman".

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with you asking on her behalf, but occasionally, something could get lost in the communication between parties.

Chris...she works...and only uses her computer for a few hours in the evening for email, some games, etc. Not the type to read forums, etc. Sorry.
Easier for 'Mom' to do the asking...I have the time...besides, I print out whatever info is given, so she has the exact wording. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
