Hi Gerard, and welcome to the Lounge!

If this computer is an older one, the cmos battery on the motherboard might be dead or too weak to hold data integrity. You can unplug your PC, open the case, locate the coin sized battery on the motherboard, remove it and replace it with a new battery. Removing the battery should clear the cmos, resetting it. You can put the original battery back in to see if the PC boots afterward in case you cannot immediately obtain a new battery.

The battery may be a CR2032, 3 volt battery. You can find them in electronic shops and even some drug stores, and other retail chains.

    Hope this helps.

Gerald, long time ! How are tricks ?

    >>> The battery may be a CR2032, 3 volt battery.

A FWIW, the 20 is cm in diameter, the 32 is mm in thickness and you know about the 3 v. You can replace a 2032 with a 2026 but it will not last as long.

    Jean.
