    Hi all.

I have a spreadsheet that lists the days of the week in a column (Mon, Tue, Wed etc). When using the Excel Data Filter button, the days of the week appear in alphabetical order. How can I get the drop down list to show them in day order?

    Thanks,

    Simon.

Instead of using Mon, Tues, wed... you could use:
    1. Monday
    2. Tuesday
    3. Wednesday
    Etc

    Or

Use 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 to represent the Days of the Week (but if you format it to display the DOW it will alphabetize them...)

Thanks Steve! I thought about doing it that way too, but wondered if there was an alternative. Seems strange though that if you have a list of dates in a column, they appear in month order and not alphabetical order. I guess the guys at Microsoft have made it consistently inconsistent!

You asked about Days of week. But it goes for any format. The data filter is alphabetized based on the format you choose to display it in. Datafilter works on the "text-display" to sort...
