The latest version of Foxit Reader has failed to install correctly on all three family PCs – two Vista Home Premium and an XP Pro – so we have had to install Adobe as a temporary measure.

I would welcome suggestions for a reliable PDF reader. The only thread I could find in the Lounge is more than two years old, and is about applications to create PDF docs, whereas we only need to open them.

Changing the topic somewhat, after uninstalling Foxit, Secunia found a copy on the laptop under C\Users\AppData\local\temp\FoxitReader.exe. There being no mention of Foxit in Control Panel\Add and Remove programmes - or whatever it’s called in Vista - I just deleted the file. IS THIS A SAFE THING TO DO?

Check out Nitro PDF reader. It is free and pretty good.

You can delete the .exec file from your temp folder. It is probably the update version downloaded by the integrated updater in Foxit.

I have had good success with PDF-X Change Viewer. This has received good reviews in these forums.

    Thanks Joe and Ted.

I've installed Nitro and it looks pretty good.
