My OS is Win 7 Pro 32 bit.

I recently installed Windows Live Mail, and whenever I open it a message window says "Initialization of RSS Feed support failed. RSS feeds could not be updated." Having said that, I would like to get rid of any references to Feeds and Newsgroups in the program. If someone can tell me how to do so I would be very grateful.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

Open WLM and go to the options (shown in my attached image). See if you can manage your feeds from here.

    Hi Ted,

Thanks a lot. I deleted all the RSS Feeds and am not subscribed to any Newsgroups. However, when I open WLM I still get the message window I referred to. Any Ideas as to how I get rid of that?

    Please advise.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

I have never seen this. I was using WLM 2010, and now use WLM 2011. I downloaded only WLM, W Photo Gallery and W Movie Maker. I do not use the others. I would suggest an uninstall, reinstall. Perhaps something did not install correctly. I have not yet found an option to disable feed all together.

Try setting the Feed update interval to "Never".

    Thanks Joe P and Ted.

I opened WLM's uninstaller and used the repair option. I then reopened WLM and deleted all RSS Feeds. I closed and reopened WLM and still got the same message. Finally I opened the C:\Users\Roy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\WLM folder and deleted the feeds subfolder. Now when I open WLM the message no longer appears.

    Best regards,
    Roy

Thanks, Roy. This worked for me with one slight modification:
I found the folder in "Local" rather than "Roaming". I also had to delete the feeds in another location (see path below). I left the folders, just deleted all the subfolders, except "Deleted Items".

    C:\Users\Terri\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Your Feeds
    C:\Users\Terri\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds

Many thanks! I also did a search for "Feeds" and cleaned some things up there.

Beginning 18JAn2013, I started getting this error also. I cleaned out all the Feeds folder and the error persists.

Anybody else with this problem? Any other solutions?

A repair install of Windows Live Essentials (which includes Windows Live Mail) did not correct the situation.
