    I have a user's manual and a corresponding trainer's manual that I'm trying to combine for a client. The requirement is that the page numbering in the user's manual match the right hand (odd) pages in the combined manual and the left hand (even) pages have the "talking points" for the page on the right. I've been trying to use: Trainer - { = {Page} + 1} in the footer for the left page which works fine for the 1st instance which is user page 4. What I can't figure out is how to force the right pages to only increment by 1 AND to be both odd and even footers. I actually don't even care if the talking point pages have page numbers or not.

    I think I'm really on the wrong track here. Important note: this document is changed frequently so I'm trying to avoid as many manual overrides (e.g. changing the Start At on every, or every other, page) as possible.

    Anyone have any ideas? I've searched this board and MS but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance!

    I don't understand this.

    Are you saying you want the page sequence to be 4,blank,5,blank,6,blank,7..., and the natural number of the page you want to be numbered 4 is 3? How about this in the odd page header:

    { =ROUND({ PAGE }/2,0)+2 }

    Sorry I couldn't make that clearer, but the good news is that you interpreted correctly and put me on exactly the right track. I put your suggestion on the even page footer and changed the "+2" to "+1" on the odd pages and that way the when open the page numbers are "Trainer - 4" on the left side, and "Page 4" on the right.

    Thank you so much for the help!

    Jefferson,

    That little idea I could have used 20 years ago when I was writing training manuals and course material! Gets a Big Thumbs UP from me!

    Kathi,
