    Outlook 2000 Calendar (9.0.0.2711)

    When I am in the calendar section:

    I type my appointment in the time slot that I want
    I then double click on the text in the time slot to open the appointment, so that I may add information about the appointment in the notes section.
    I then save and close the appointment.

    You have two options that I know of. 1) You can turn on the preview pane. (View | Preview Pane) . You may not like this because it takes up screen real estate. 2) You also have a view called Day/Week/Month with auto-preview. This does two things. If the duration is long enough it will show you the 1st part of the notes. It will also pop up some "balloon" text when you hover the mouse over an item.
