    Windows XP, Telus antiVirus

My antiVirus found 14 trojans inbedded in the JAVA program and therefore would not delete the viruses. Can I delete the JAVA programme without causing anything disastrous? Can I live without JAVA or can I find the Java programme and reinstall after deletion?
    Thank you for any replies

    Regarding JAVA post
sorry about the size of the picture, my first time to post and an error kept coming up saying there was no file, so browsed and picked a picture, it came out very large and do not know how to delete it or make it smaller. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be able to edit the post and delete the attachment.

If you care to you can always uninstall Java, download the latest version and reinstall it. It be surprised if Java itself is infected by 14 trojans. What A/V software are you using? Are bot the program and definitions up-to-date?

thank you Joe, had to go to advanced editor to delete the picture.
My Server is Telus, it is their AntiVirus that won't delete the Trojans.
Also use adaware and Malwarebytes (separately), updating them daily, they don't mention these trojans.

It could be false positives. Usually when an ISP supplies a/v software it is from one of the big a/v vendors. Does this happen after a re-boot? Does it happen after the a/v definition database is updated?

When you refer to Java, do you mean this?

Some programs & browsers will specifically use Java, you should know or get to know which programs are using it.
You will have to decide if those programs or browser addons for Java are worthwhile keeping. I could get by quite nicely in XP without
Java installed, but your situation may be different.

New versions of Java can be installed over older versions, but for the cleanest installation,
odler versions of Java should be completly uninstalled prior to installing newer version releases.
