John,
Top O' The Day to Ya!and welcome to the lounge. Gee if only you posted that a Year and a half ago when I trashed ALL my floppies. I know there was a copy of Windows 3.1 along with a couple of DOS 6.1's. Good luck with your search.
See this thread Where to get 3.1 install disks.
Joe
I have a copy that I could send you.
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” – Dr. Seuss
Hello Again,
Unfortunately, Banya couldn't find the disk in question, so the search goes on. So if anyone out there has a shoebox full of floppies on top of the wardrobe, please have a look for me. I'll make it worth your while! Points to Banya for trying,
bfn,
John
hiya
did you end up getting the missing disk ?
syb
Not sure what version you have there.
The 3.1 disks that I have only include 6 disks.
The 3.11 has 8.
Hi Sybex!
Still no joy.
The search continues...
Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends!
Dear Mercyh,
Don't know about different versions. But that's what it says on the disk.
Maybe it's a European thing on account of fonts with diacritics and help files
in multiple languages.,
cheers,
John
At the risk of offending the EULA gods, I could just zip my whole install up and sent it to you....
I guess it would be kind of legal as it is not currently installed anywhere else
Hiya John,
the disk 7 of win 3.1 was a supplemental disk, had printer drivers etc on it, 3.1 should run fine without it and if you need CD drivers (oakcdrom.sys) then they should still be available for download and a lot easier to find. is your dos / win 3.1 install working ? is there a particular driver you need?
Syb
Dear Mercyh,
Truth is I'm a bit OCD (okay, anal retentive).
I have all the other DOS 6.2 and Win 3.1 disks
and I need to complete the collection,
John
Dear Sybex,
I thought I had all the disks and now I know that I don't, a part of me
won't rest easy until I have a complete collection again. It's not rational.
I admit that.
Images of the floppies are floating around in cyberspace and I'm toying
with the idea of doing a virtual install on Dosbox or something like that.
But like Mercyh said, I don't want to get in trouble with the software
police so there's some justification for trying to find that missing floppy,
John
