    Forward Group List (5.5)

Someone asked me if I could give them all the e-mail addresses for a Group List in my address book. Instead of having to copy them 1 by 1 to an new e-mail message, is there any way I can foward the group list by e-mail?

Export it to a file and send the file. You can export to several different formats.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Dave, I don't want to sent the entire address book, just a Group List within the address book.

p.s. I can only export to Address Book -> Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book or Address Book -> Text File (Comma Separated Values). I don't know anything about Exchange so I tried the latter and it created a file of the entire address book.

When you say a 'Group List', you mean a group of people to send email to in one go? If so, open an old email that's been sent to this Group, select the entire contents of the To: box (which should have split down to individual names when it was sent) and copy and paste this into the body of a new email. The addresses should come with it.

If the group name did not split down (and the list isn't too long) you could try adding the individuals to the To: box of a blank email, and when they're all there, selecting, copying and pasting into the body of the blank email.

Sorry I can't be more precise, we don't even have OE installed here at work! I'll check at home tonight and if these don't work I'll find another way of doing it. I'm sure there is one!

Thanks Beryl! That did the trick. I originally had to export the entire address book to a comma deliminated file, then import it to Excel and delete the ones I didn't want to forward. Yuck!

With your suggestion I created a new email then added the Group Lists to the To: box. At this point the Group Lists did not break down to individual names so I saved the email in my Drafts folder. When I reopened the new email all the individual names from the Group Lists were there!

It was easy to copy them to the body of the email and then delete them from the To: box and put in the one name I wanted to send my Group Lists to. I guess my recipient will have to add them to their Address Book one by one and create their own Group Lists.

Kind of klunky but way better than re-typing them all or doing an import from Excel!

Glad it worked! The bit about the group list not breaking down until you saved it to drafts was why I suggested opening an old email to get the contents of the To: box - I couldn't remember if it did it when saved to drafts or not!

    Anyway, glad to have been of help. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
