Hi Loungers, when setting up the wireless section in my Netgear router (WPA2 + PSK) does the length of the PassPhrase have any effect in the time taken for my laptop to connect ? Character lenght 8-63 is permitted.

If it does it is likely to be a few milliseconds at most. Unless you are disconnecting and reconnecting frequently, why worry about it?

See if the router can log connection activity.

Don't know what to say about mail notification. Only an Admin can look at that. Did you post something in "Lounge Matters"?

Always use a 63 bit random key and AES if possible. Secure is better than speed, especially as a wireless connection is always going to be slower than cable, but much faster than your internet.
    See GRC for more info.

    cheers, Paul

Hi Paul, like a fool, I tried to change to a full lenght password using GRC, without altering any other settings. Fan changed colour. took me over a day to fix it.
