Cleaning System Tray for Windows 2000

In a recent edition of WWW, there was info on cleaning the system tray of unwanted icons for Win95 and Win98. I need to delete an icon in the system tray on my Windows 2000 machine. Can anyone provide step-by-step instructions to delete unwanted icons from the Windows 2000 system tray? Thanks much.

    Hi
get the Win2k equivalent of MSConfig <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.insideproject.com/guides/showguide.cfm?guideid=31>here</A>. Install. Click the start-up tab and kill the unwanted program.

This will kill only the system tray icon, right -- not the program? (I don't want to kill the program.)

No, sorry, it will stop the program running. To stop the tray icon you usually need to select the appropriate option during installation. Usually this includes an option for an icon on the desktop as well, and entries on the start menu.
Possibly there is an option accessible from the toolbar within the app to switch it off. What program is it?
