I scanned several old glass slides (1932 and before) in direct color and in black & white. I use an Epson 4870 pro scanner with Epson Scan software. Those images scanned as b/w images do not display as thumbnails, just icons. Scanning the same image in RGB produces a normal thumbnail. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Windows XP pro SP3 fully updated.

In the absence of details I can only guess. Is it the file format that your scanning software (whatever that is) saves the files?
