How do you change the formatting of the default workbook? I want to change the font, font size and column width and have the changes appear in new workbooks created by using the New toolbar button.

Can you do it or do I just save a formatted spreadsheet as an .xlt file and use File, New to select?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Easier than you think!

Just setup a new workbook just as you want it and then save to the XLSTART folder as book1.xlt.

To do the same for when you inset a new sheet, set it up as required and then save it as sheet.xlt

You will need to locate this folder before you save.

    In Vista my folder is:

    c:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLS TART

    Good Luck!

Thanks. I knew I had to save as book1.xlt but had forgotten about the XLSTART folder.

It should be saved as book.xlt rather than book1.xlt by the way.
