Today when I turned on my pc all the icons I had in my quick launch were gone and a folder was on my desktop that had all of my quick launch icons in it.
I have tried to put the icons back into the quick launch but could not.
When I click on the folder it opens and I can use the icons, and the folder appears in the quick launch tray.
The task bar is not locked.
Can someone tell me what has happened and what can I do to restore my quick launch to what it used to be with all of its icons?
    Very odd problem.

Remove the "quick launch menu" from your taskbar, then re-enable it. Afterword, ensure you lock the taskbar down.
If the above doesn't work, you will have to rebuild all the items in the quick launch root folder.

    Quick Launch root folder location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
    DRIVE IMAGING
Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.

    Thanks guys for your reply.
I had to take each one of the quick launch icons out of the odd folder and put them back int the task bar.
What puzzles me is how did that folder become created?
I could only imagine how to make one, but would not find it practical.
    Thanks again guys.
