A very simple question to which I didn't find a simple (or practical) answer...

In Windows 7, how do you obtain the total size of the Recycle Bin ?

In XP, you would have "opened" or "explored" the bin, and the status bar would give you the result...
In 7, the explorer windows that is displayed doesn't contain this data.
The only way I have found is to empty the bin; during the operation, it tells you the total size.

However, I'd like to have this size before emptying the bin...

    Hello.

Technically, I do not think that there is a limit. I might be wrong !

Right click the recycle bin and choose Properties. You can then set a custom max size. this way the recycle bin is always only as big as the size you set.

Open the Recycle Bin and hit Ctrl + A to select all. The total size should be displayed at the bottom of the Recycle Bin window.

    Well, this looks obvious.
Except that this doesn't work for the total size. The only thing you get is the total number of files into the bin, with a "Show more details..." link that does nothing, except rescanning the whole bin...

    Any other idea ?

Works on my machine. No idea why it won't work for you.[attachment=90612:Recycle Bin.jpg]
