Very very odd behavior. Outlook does not fully close on exit; yes the program appears to close when you exit the program however when you restart it to check calander or mail items it fails to launch. When you open the task manager under processes you see that "although closed " Outlook is still running. The only way to exit and restart Outlool is to do so via the task manager very inconvienent. This by the way was Microsofts support fix to the problem. I have tried the repair re-install also but this did not fix the issue. This issue started under the beta test isuue of Office Professional when an IMAP account was added to the email profile and continues to persist under the licensed copy of Office 2010. The Beta test version was unistalled when the beta expired. System Win 7 Pro., core 2 quad at 2.66Ghz, 8gb RAM, ATI 5870 Graphics adapter, Creative X Fi Pro audio card. any input on this issue is appreciated........Thanks Phil

This sort of issue is often the result of an Outlook addin not terminating correctly. Try running Outlook with addins disabled. If that appears to resolve the problem re-enable the addins one at a time until the culprit is identified.

Hi Thanks for the info stopping the add ins from loading didn't help. Problem was traced to an IMAP accout that was synching inconsistantly.....The fix was to convert the IMAP to a POP 3 and all is well.................Thanks Phil
