I have been trying to find a simple ping tool which can monitor the network connection between a main office and a branch office.

Ideally it would report ping response times, times when the connection dropped, etc. I have a Windows XP workstation in each location which could run an agent of some kind to do this.

If I were more practiced in Visual Basic I could probably write a quick and easy app which might even send email notifications on failed connections, but a simple log would be sufficient enough.

I thought I might hit up the cloud of knowledge here at WSL to see if someone has a nice open source or otherwise low cost solution.

    TIA

Some of the commercial network monitor tools have freeware versions, e.g. Paessler

I install monitoring software at all clients if they don't have anything. My monitor of choice is HostMonitor because it's cheap, flexible and robust.

    cheers, Paul
