    Hi,

I have a query that utilises a memo field as one part of it. However the memo fields usually are in excess of 255 characters. The limit for display and use of a field within the query is 255 characters.

The actual query is there to export to a TEXT file, so it is important that I get all the information from the memo field.

Is there a way of achiving this?
    Best Regards,

    Luke

I'm not clear on what the problem is. A query of a memo field can show all the field. You can show it in a form or just in query form. If you do have line feeds and carriage returns, you will have to position to the end of the apparent display and press the right-arrow key to see the next line (this is when looking at the query itself).

I was able to export a query with well more than 255 characters as long as I kept it as comma delimited. I have Access 2007 if that matters (I think not). Try changing the options when you export it.

Does any of the stuff in this post apply to your query? It explains the circumstances in which Access truncates memos to 255 characters in a query.

It seems to export fine into the text file.

Obviously just limited to displaying 255 characters in the query view.
    Best Regards,

Read my previous comment. Query view shows all the characters on the first line of text. You have to take action to see the next line(s), but they are there.
