I have ivstalled Epson 1650 phot scanner and smart panel in XP mode but when I try to attach it Windows does not find it.

Win 7 is strange anyway , sometimes shows optical drives in mycomputer and other times does not.

    Any thoughts ?

    Gerry

Problem solved: if all else fails check connections, usb cable came loose.

    Thanks for all the help

Gerry, Welcome to the Lounge, new members are always welcome.

The Epson site only shows drivers for a 32 Bit version for Win 7. If you have installed the 64 Bit OS, you may have a problem. Hardware drivers must match the "bitness" of the OS. If you do use the 32 Bit Win 7 then installing the Win 7 drivers is your best option.

What Ted says is the first best option.

If it is 64-bit 7, then you first have to get Windows 7 to make something of the device that is plugged in, even if it comes back as unidentified USB device or whatever, so it will show up in the peripheral list available to XP Mode. Then in XPMode capture that USB port device with the Epson scanner software ready to sense the capture and hopefully identify the device properly and finish the installation or make it ready for use in XP Mode.
