I have used the free utility PrintScreen 2000 v.5.10 with XP on many PCs with much success. Can anyone suggest a similar free utility that will work for Windows 7?

If you have Irfanview, it works very well for screen capture and editing the captures. It does a whole lot more.
Irfan is FREE ... Irfanview - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

Your keyboard's "Prt Scr" button works just fine except you won't get the mouse cursor captured in the image.

    EDIT
You will also have to export the image to paint or something to edit/blurr certain info etc.

    Jeffrey,

Since you're using Win-7 just use the builtin Snipping Tool.

I think you are referring to " PrintKey 2000 v.5.10 " which last I look was no longer FREE.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
