A while back I installed a Windows easy transfer cable ( ethernet ) between two computers to transfer files. The old computer is XP and the new one is Windows 7 and it worked fine. Now when I try it it isn't recognised. Made sure both ends are plugged in and tried it with ( a recommendation from the internet ) my virus program and firewall disconnected. Tried all the combinations ( old computer, new computer ) and no connection. Any ideas. TIA I have tried using it as Administrator.

Problem solved. First up it was a USB cable I was using and not Ethernet. I blame my ageing brain for the confusion. Since I last used the device I had decided to plug it into a hub instead of the back of the computer. This caused it to not work. For a few months I had wondered why in device manager it was showing a device that had a yellow triangle. This was the problem. I have had problems with the hub. Won't be using it for anything important again.
