I downloaded ie9 without having ie8 installed. It does not appear in the installed update section or in programs. I can find its file location, but I do not have permission to delete. I am administrator. It of course doesn't work correctly, and I would dearly love to get rid of it.

See: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-un...tform-preview/ . You have to click View installed updates option when you open Programs and Features.

Actually, this can be solved by right-clicking on the file, go to Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner > Edit..

Then change the owner to Administrator
Make sure there is NO Internet Explorer open when you try the above. If the above doesn't work while in desk top mode.Boot into safe mode & try the same thing. If neither works then use system restore click on a time before you install IE9.Hope this helps.
