How might, if I send (or forward) an HTML formatted message that includes a graphic, one of the people I send it to end up getting it in text format -- with no pictures visible?

    Regards,

When an email program sends an HTML message it also sends a text version as part of the mail, just in case you are using an old mail program.
Maybe your friend is using an old email program that doesn't display HTML?
Maybe they have set their email program to display mail from you as text?

    cheers, Paul

That's what I would have thought Paul, but they say they are using Outlook, so I dunno....

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

Even if your contact has Outlook, it could still be set to read all messages in plain text format, either locally by your contact or globally as part of their company Exchange setup.

If you're keen to take this further with them, it might be worth checking which version of Outlook they have and asking them to check the appropriate setting in the following link - if it's a local setting then you might be able to help them out anyway:

    Hope this helps.

    Mike.

Viewing the raw mail should show you the embedded HTML - it may have been stripped. Unfortunately Outlook won't show you the raw message, so you would need to do some trickery to capture the email before Outlook wrecks it.

    cheers, Paul

The thing that's crazy is that it only seems to happen to this one guy...nobody else. I've used Outlook for quite a while and I cannot imagine why sometimes he gets the messages fine, and sometimes not.

He says no Paul.. He just relies to the message showing no graphics -- just "markers".
