    Hi all.
Recently i was attempting to IM at one of my sites. I use firefox as my browser. The site says it requires flash for IM to work. I have Shockwave Flash 10.0.32.18 as a plug-in. However when I try to IM I alwas get a server error. I cannot send or receive IM's.
    Anybody got a clue???

Michael - You may want to test your Flash plug-in
    Test Adobe Shockwave Player
Click on "Test your Adobe Flash Player installation"

BTW .... current version of Adobe Flash Player is 10.1.102.64

    Here is more information:
I tried the flash test. It worked fine. No problems there.
I tried IE as a browser:: guess what!!! IE passes IM's just fine!!!
So; it seems like it is some setting in firefox. But what???
Also i tried updating flash to 10.1.102.64. This is a disaster!!! The install screen sends me online to read the license.
Then it hangs and only allows me to quit the install!!!
Since IE works with the current version of flash, i assume it is some firefox setting.

    I am using 3.6.13

I never knew that one. I will try a new install. New question??? Do i have to uninstall before reinstall?? or simply reinstall over existing??
I noticed one other difference!! On your image you show-- accept third party cookies as CHECKED. On my firefox it is unchecked.
Could that have anything to do with the problem??

I don't think so. Cookies are enabled by default. If it were necessary to change that setting to install or update the Flash player, there would be millions of complaints about it.

An alternative route to the installer for the Flash plug-in is: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flas...ash_player.exe

If you don't believe me, try it. I did however forget to say to reenable cookies afterwards.
This is when installing from the 'Get Bookmarks Add-ons' in FF directly.

    Update:
Here is yet more info. I tried totally disabling my Comodo firewall. Flash IM now works OK in firefox!!!!
However, this is not viable except for test purpose. NOWAY will i run without afirewall. Firefox is obviously enabled in Comodo, so,
    what could it be???
Perhaps a component needs to be added???

I don't think I have that item. I have Tools > Add-ons > Get Add-ons. Where is the one you have??

    Solution
Upon advice from site administrator i uninstalled flash from Firefox. Reinstalling most recent version corrects the problem. I can now IM through flash in Firefox. I have no idea why it is NOT critical to IE!!!
    The discrepancy is now resolved.
    Thanks to all who helped.

Re installing AF Player with cookies temp disabled, I found in FF help. Could you show me how your FF bookmark folder looks. ? It might be as your in USA, or not latest version.
