I have an application which runs off USB cable. My understanding is that a 5m cable is the maximum USB extension, but I've seen booster cables at 30+ ft. Anyone had any experience with these or suggestions on how to run > 5m?
    thanks.

What is it that you are trying to accomplish? There may be a better way that someone here could suggest.

Check out this Wikipedia article on USB.

Note: Although they don't mention it specifically I believe they are talking about powered hubs.

I've used the special "boost" usb cables effectively to go further but not all devices can work through one of those cables because the "sensing" isn't complete or doesn't work correctly in some fashion or there is a power issue. Your particular use may not work correctly.

If you have to travel a long distance that would require stringing more than one boost cable together, it might be more effective to get a converter that goes from USB to Ethernet (and Ethernet to USB at the other end).
