I have been getting messages that state that Postmaster is notifying me of a failed message.
I have not sent any one of the addressee's any message.
Can some one tell me what this means?
I dumped my contact list assuming it was hacked but the failed messages are still coming in.
Is there a way to stop this.

It is not necessarily you. It could be that someone who has your email address has been hacked. There is not much you can do about being sent those emails. Those messages are automatically generated and sent to the "from" address in the email. Any address in the email is trivially easy to manipulate by a spammers program. About the only way to avoid seeing them in your inbox is to setup a rule that would automatically move them to your deleted items. You should still check them before the "delete items" are archived or emptied just to make sure there is not legitimate repsonse.

Most likely someone is sending spam with your email address as the sender's address. You likely posted your email address online somewhere and it was harvested automatically. Other than changing your email address, I am afraid you have no way of stopping that.

Fake non-delivery notifications also are a favorite way to deliver malware, so use caution in viewing any attachments!
