    Hi

I just got two (for mirroring) 1.5TB WD drives with the new 4k sectors. When I format these drives, should I go with the default NTFS sector size of 512 or should I go with the 4k sector size?

    Thanks

    Bri

    Depends!
If you expect to only host large files then 4k sectors will save you some wasted space. If you host a lot of files you may waste space in the file tables.
If the drives only read/write 4k sectors then you will gain some performance benefit by matching the NTFS sectors to the disk sectors, but there is no guarantee that Windows and the disk will agree over what is a sector. I would do some tests.

    cheers, Paul
