I travel quite a bit and utilize free wireless at hotels. I also have a 3rd-party web host with SSH and SSL certificate access. The web host does not permit port forwarding via SSH.

Is there a way to set up an encrypted link between my laptop and 3rd-party host, so that I am encrypted over the wireless link at the laptop end, then the surfing traffic is sent thru the 3rd-party host?

    Sort of like a do-it-yourself Witopia ?

You need a VLAN to secure all comms from your PC. There is a good WS article here.

    cheers, Paul
