I have several hard drives including an eSATA hard that is listed as a device but says it isn't seen. I also have two DVDs, but one id only seen occasionally.

I have tried to open the hard drive to reformat but cannot open it in device manager to fiddle with it. Also, it is listed as drive D. There is another drive which is recognized named D.

Any ideas. This is a strange one!

Having two drives with the same drive letter sure is weird. Have you tried changing the drive letter for one of them?

Hi Gary, and welcome to the Lounge!

Where do you see the hard drive listed as a device? In the BIOS? In Disk Management? Is the hard drive listed in Disk Management without an assigned drive letter? If so, can you assign a drive letter to it?

Disk Management can be run by clicking Start > Run and typing diskmgmt.msc
