PSI says Uninstall or Change a Program, but I can't find any of the three ghosts, nor can I understand what either person tried to help me.

Here is what I sent to Secunia:

I have 3 End of Lifes:

    X Media Player Classic 6.X
    X Nero Start Smart 1.X
    Secunia PSI 2.0.0.1003

I tried to find them but they are not in the 'Uninstall or Change a Program'. And I have searched all over, but no joy.

    What do I do next?

Try to check if you have the EXE or dll files of the applications pointed to in these folders, or do a copmplete system scan. Maybe that helps.

    Hello.
    Finding the file path.

    psi versions 1.5.0.1 and 1.5.0.2

Use the Advanced interface...or switch to it ( Simple/ Advanced..top right of psi panel ).

1/. Click on the + sign alongside the programme to expand it.
2/. Click again on Tech Details in the Toolbox to confirm the installation path of the detected file/prog. 3/.Post the Installation Path back to the forum if you are uncertain how best to proceed.

    psi version 2.0

Go to Results from the Dashboard

1/. Click on the + sign alongside the file.
2/. This will reveal the file path.
3/. Post the info back to the forum if uncertain how best to proceed.

    Hope it helps

Hi Bob, if you have the .exe files saved on your PC, Secunia includes them whether they are installed on your PC on not.

Secunia tells you the folders where it found the "offending" programs, so you can just easily have a look there. For a while I ran Foxit on my laptop and then decided to remove it. Turns out Foxit left a dll in a folder and Secunia found it. So it was stating that Foxit had a vulnerability, even when I no longer had Foxit. All I needed to do was remove the folder where the dll was located and the issue was solved.

Sorry I am so slow. I was out of town for a few days.

These 3 programs do not show up in Uninstall or Change Program - only in the PSI Scan Results. PSI is very confusing. (I am very old and recently had a stroke which almost destroyed my short term memory.)

I built a Win7 box last year, then shifted most of my Win2K stuff to the win7 box. Could these 3 programs cause a problem?

(For an example, it took me over an hour to scratch out this message.)

    Hi Bob,

What Secunia version are you using? If 1.x still, whenever Secunia finds an issue, it will indicate the offending file and in the row of icons at the right, one of them will allow you to open the folder where the file is located. If you do that for the programs that do not show up in the control panel, you can delete the offending file (maybe even the folder, if specific to the involved program) and then tell Secunia to scan again and the problem will have gone away.

    Regards

This Secunia is PSI 2.0.0.1003, installed (on this Win7) as soon it was available. I've had others for a long time in the past.

By the way, on the top of this thread, the last End of Lifes shows Secunia PSI 2.0.0.1003 as an End of Life. That is wrong and I don't know how I did it; it should be Winimage 6.x (6.10.6100).
