I have to agree with RR. WLM is a much more robust mail program.

Windows Live Mail is the successor to Windows Mail. So it's the most up to date app that you can have, migration should be uneventful and likely your error will be gone after the upgrade.

Also WLM is not web mail. It is a mail client that allows access to any number of email accounts from the same user interface. You can access pop accounts and web mail accounts. I'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of accounts you can access, but I was accessing 4 different accounts from WLM. I had 2 pop (Road Runner) accounts, 1 Hotmail account and 1 Gmail account, all accessed from one WLM window. The mail client checks all email accounts and shows all results as follows:

As you can see I've pared down to 2 separate accounts, one pop account and one web mail account at present, but I can easily add others.

This from Microsoft is my understanding of Live Mail.
"Windows Live Mail has taken your program 'into the cloud'. That means it is a webbased application.
So the emails you've send, your concepts and your received mail are stored on a Microsoft server.
    NOT ON YOUR COMPUTER."

Certainly I'm confused. Thanks. Microsoft is having an imagination problem in naming email alternatives. I'm not sure how I would get the windows mail you are suggesting.

You need to download Windows Live 2011 Essentials and install it. You can choose which apps to install and Windows Live Mail will be one of those offered.

I may be, MS has a naming problem. And I don't know how to get the Live Mail you suggest.

See Windows Live Essentials 2011 - Download free Microsoft programs. Download the Windows Live Installer. Run it and select the Windows Live applications you wish to install.

All personal emails are stored on the web until you download those emails to your PC, not just WLM. The only emails that are stored differently are those Corp. accounts that are sent over company networks. WLM is a mail client that allows you to access many different email accounts, both web based and pop accounts. Thunderbird is also a mail client, similar to WLM. I believe you may be confusing WLM with Windows Mail. Windows Mail was the old email that was bundled with Vista. WLM replaces Win Mail and is a full featured email client, not just an email account.
