No thank you here. I spent over a frustrating hour trying to get in. A serious problem is that the web pages don't clearly state whether one is logging in to Windows Secrets or the loungs. I may have messed up my Secrets account.

No gripe just a simple question. How, pray tell, do I post a thread? Try as I might (and it's most likely my eyesight) I can't seem to find the button to click on that permits me to post a thread, i.e., ask a question. When you get minute would sincerely appreciate a response. Thanks

When you display the table of content for a forum there is a "Post New Thread" button immediately above the Forum title.

To elaborate on what Joe said:
Make sure you are logged in to Windows Secrets Forum (Not the Windows Secrets Newsletter)
Navigate to the specific forum you wish to post in
Click on the "Post New Thread" button immediately above the Forum title.
    Post your Question/concern

What's with this Windows Secrets pop-up ad? The escape key makes it go away but it really gets annoying when I'm not signed on and just perusing.

Just registered for the lounge and now I need help on how to post and answer posts. Looks like it's an email system but without any email address it's not going to work for me. I have not found any help links or how to.

    Ron,

Welcome to the Lounge as a new poster!

Looks like you got it figured out as you posted in this forum and the General Windows forum. The lounge is NOT an email system although you can get email notifications of threads you subscribe to. BTW: I've moved your other post to the Beta Software forum where the Win 10 TP is being discussed. HTH

"Ads are a necessity to keep the site running. We have asked iNet to minimize the impact of the ads and they promised us they will try to do that."

With all due respect guys, they apparently didn't do that. Take a look at the title "Popup Disables Lounge". This popup is causing people some grief and irritation. Is this really necessary?

Woody, I have been with you almost since the Lounge started and would not like to think of doing without it.

That said, I have a suggestion. I posted a question today. It may have been answered already, but I was unable to limit my search for previous answers to the operating system in question. By including the operating system in the search term I got 17 pages of hits, most of which were not for 8.0 or 8.1. So, I limited to past year, and got the same 17 pages, which included many posts older than the past year (although I didn't check to see if some of them had responses in the past year).

She didn't say she was searching for her own posts (although I can see how you read it that way).

You can search just the Windows 8 Forum instead of all forums; go to the Windows 8 Forum and click Search Forum a bit further down than the general or advanced search.

I don't know if it's the new version or not, but the forum search barely works. For example, advanced search returns a blank page when logged in, vanilla search seems to require being logged in or it too just yields a blank page.
    IE11 on Windows 7 Pro.

    Dear Woody:
I'm a very very small vendor selling via word of mouth only, rebuilt older laptops, dual core and above, Win based and only to local, rather lower income folks for nearly nothing in ac 97051. I have my hobby for the sole reason to support the eco/and needy folks. I understand most threads in your forums are very detailed and techie, but that is fine except for those that need support around here, and for some that need somewhere to ask questions from a non cost pc help company. Within 10 miles of our town are a couple of computer repair shops, most of which could be costly to depressed individuals. Those that need help, usually ask me what they could do, I surmise the situation, either fixing a simple problem on the spot free, or tell them that to fix their problem could cost a fee, usually parts or whatever or reluctantly tell them would be too expensive from the git-go.
I would like to see and support a reference to a Site that ordinary citizens, non-techie types, could go and get help. For example, PB's, 'CarDr', show on the radio. Yes, remember radio, it is still listened to by millions, and can be still offered if it is resurrected again. Yes, it could be rather difficult to show and tell, but video broadcasting is expensive, and comparably is the discussion of fixing cars today, but some of the simplest answers are difficult for those not familiar in computer talk.
Maybe I am wasting my efforts of concern, but other than major cities, a Hometown broadcast could make a difference to many rural folks in need.
    What do you think?
