I find you have to login to download a file. I often open the forum when I have a few spare minutes and if I find somthing interesting may download the file. Now I have to login I am less likely to.

This is a board setting that could be changed. I have seen many communities where only registered users can download attachments. Many of these involve software attachments, so perhaps it is to protect intellectual property of the posters (or in the case of hacking mobile phones, to make it a little harder to spy on the posters?). Here, we might not have the same needs. I think it's a good point for discussion.

Also I was reading a pre-converision post which indicated an attached file but nothing was visible. Did they drop off in the conversion?

I checked randomly and found .txt, .xlsm, and image files still attached. If you reference the post, maybe we can find something anomalous about it.

It took me forever to wade through all the comments on this topic to see if mine had been discussed. The pages took forever to load and I almost gave up. Think you might miss some valuable feedback if others get tired of waiting.

Yes, it's weird that all of these issues are in one thread. Many of them should be separate threads, but separating them all out now would be a huge job.

Why is it that I cannot tell if a forum has new unread threads in it from the Lounge? Why is it almost impossible to see if a thread has unread posts in it - the icons are almost indistinguishable to my eyes?

They are not very distinct, are they. Hopefully a revised skin will offer more options

Why is it that I have to go through several clicks to mark a forum read? There used to be a button on the top of the forum. Similar with Return to Lounge.

The Mark Read option is behind a button that says Forum Tools. So there is an extra click there.

I'm not sure what you mean by Return to Lounge. I usually click the word Lounge in the "breadcrumb" navigation line near the top of the page. (Home > Lounge > Section > Forum...)

I hate to be a Luddite, but I see no benefit whatsoever in the 'shiny new version' of the Lounge. We have not corrected the problems of the previous version, just added new ones!

Somewhere we need to list those earlier unsolved problems as well as the new ones. I think then it will be easier for the devs to set priorities.

Well, I lost all my notifications from the old Lounge and it took me quite awhile to figure the quirks out on the new lounge but after several days I am pretty much back to normal..

I guess we get used to one way of doing things and then have to learn new ways to do the same things and it takes some getting used to...

I haven't heard anyone yet complain about the price......

If that is so, it would represent a change in policy and it would be nice to have it confirmed by the board administration.

Not only are they not distinct, they are not consistent. In the forums, if I look very carefully, there appears to be two versions, one slightly bluish-grey and one slightly greyish-blue. However, sometimes the former appears when there a unread posts, sometime the latter. I can find no logic in the display.

I fear I'm going to have to give up on this, it's just taking me too much time to try to find unread threads.

It's not just an extra click. I have to select a drop down list box with quite small text. I have to make sure a select the correct entry, then click it. There is more opportunity for error.

The approach seems to be: "Why make it easy when you can make it difficult?" Seems they've been learning from Indonesia!

I'm unimpressed...

To mark the forums read, probably is easier to click on New Posts and on the page that shows up once you do that, Mark Forums Read is the rightmost link immediately below the tabs. At least it's easier to read there .

Ruirib, I just confirmed this, there is a time limit on the ability to edit a post. We can however change this. I think most forums maintain a time limit, but we can extend it. I believe the default is 15 minutes.

Sorry, I find this move a near disaster. First, why are we forced to use a beta? Normally that is only offered as an option for those willing to take risks. We are ALL forced to take this risk if we wish to use this forum.

@wartaaids (Chris) - Yes, everyone is using the "beta". There is not a way to maintain both versions at the same time because we switched to an entirely new platform.

Not liking the new platform at all, foul IMO.

Leaving a thread with IE's back arrow ( or alt & left arrow) no longer marks the thread as read. Just another inconvenient step backwards.
