Angry Firefox Won't Save Open Tabs After Crash

FF is checked off to save all tabs. This works fine when I've chosen to close it. But when it crashes, which is too frequently, I have to recreate all my open tabs. I do save all open tabs in bookmarks every few days, but have to use the history library for those that I opened after the last save. Nothing I've tried is working, and I'm getting frustrated and fed up with FF. I keep using it because neither Roboform nor LastPass seem to be working well with the Chrome browser.

LastPass works very well with my version of Chrome 10 beta. I rid myself of FF quite some time ago. Too many of various problems for my likes.

I use FF on a variety of machines and have found it to be very stable. Perhaps one of your addons is causing the the crashes. Try disabling all of your addons and then enabling them one at a time to discover this addon is causing the issue.

BTW - you don't have to shout.

Can you check something for me. Open about:config (in the address bar, type or paste about:config and then press enter), type sessions into the filter box, and check to see whether any of the preferences are bolded? Those are the ones that are not the default settings, and I wonder whether anything important has been disabled.

    Here is what I see:

This is the one that's bolded:

    browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash;false

Should I change this to "true?" I'm nervous dealing with this kind of thing, since I don't really know what I'm doing. Thanks!.

Thanks for your suggestion, which I will try. Where was I shouting?

Traditionally, ALL CAPS is considered shouting. I guess using a huge font gave the same impression. Does it not look huge to you?

It was all lower case. As is this. But it looks a bit larger than all the other posts I'm reading on my screen, which are microscopic! Mine looks normal. Sorry if it reproduces differently.

It's all relative. I use the browser's zoom feature to enlarge the text on many web sites, including this one, since the default font size is quite small. Hopefully zoom will work for you.

Thanks. But to get back to my original issue: did you see my answer to your suggestion to check about:config, and whether I should change false to true?

I missed that. If you want your tabs-at-moment-of-crash to be restored, then yes, that needs to be set to true. See Browser.sessionstore.resume from crash - MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

Appreciate your help. Actually can't wait until FF crashes again, to see if it worked!! (I know it should).
