Getting your system ready for Windows 7 SP1

    By Susan Bradley

It seems like just yesterday that Microsoft released Windows 7; now we're gearing up for its first service pack.

It seems a little surreal, but Microsoft is releasing an update that will prepare your PC for the really big update to Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

    Cumulative Patch ist

Why is there no cumulative patch list with all your recomendations? I just returned from a long vacation and there are a large number of patches that have been downloaded to my Windows 7 computer. I want to look at what you say for each, but I don't seem able to find answers. Even when I perform a Windows Secrets search for "KBxxxxxxx" it returns no results. Where can I look to see if a patch is recommended, particularly by you?

    thanx,

    ken

Susan Brady's article made the W7 SP1 patch seem very imminent and very important and if you don't do it, you won't get anymore updates. Her most recent articles disclaim the tone of this thread completely as in only a dunce would download a patch that hasn't aged at least ninety days. Not having a clue as to her real attitude on this, my brother downloaded the patch on his computer and his wife's computer and I downloaded the patch to both computers in our household--all without a hitch and we are both very pleased with SP1. I am even getting more satisfactory downloads of Microsoft Securtiy Essentials
    updates of virus definitions.
