Question Win 7 Backup and Restore

I'm using the built in software with Win 7 Home Premium. Seems to be working good but am curious if there is any way to check the results of a backup other than just the message that it sucessfully completed. There appears to be a log in C:\windows\logs\windowsbackups. It is an .etl file.

Any easy way to read that file???

    Ed Y,
Hello.... I can't answer that question, as i do not use windows for back up. There is a better and free alternative http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp With Macrium Reflect you can "Validate" as well as explore (mount) the backup and place it where and how you wish. If you like the free version you then can "upgrade" to the "pay for" flavor , has a few more bells and whistles. Acronis is another alternative (2010 v7046) if you can find it ... as 2011 has too many bugs. Regards Fred

See "How do I view the contents of my backup" at Windows 7 Backup and restore FAQ.
