    All posts UNREAD!

All of the sudden all of the posts in all the threads are unread!
I checked and I am logged in! Also the Mark this Thread Read does not work.
    What's going on?

Update: This does not apply to the lounge but to the individual forums...all open envelopes. The Mark Forums Read also displays this behavior

Same thing is going on for me today: The two forums I visit most, in which I had all posts marked read when I was last here yesterday, are now all marked unread - with the unhelpful twist that all the new posts from overnight, which I had never seen, are marked Read!

And the 'Mark This Forum Read' command doesn't appear to be working.

I accidentally switched to the IE rendering engine in FF and the problem went away. Switched back and everything is unopened again. So this seems to be a FF problem. I'm using FF 3.6.13.

Update: Switched to IE and noticed it isn't fixed here either. I had a post which showed read, clicked the Mark Forum Read button and it changed to UnRead!

    Note: Images loaded backwards!

Yes, same thing is happening to me: when I click 'Mark This Forum Read' it marks everything as unread (all of the envelopes switch to open). So something is set backwards. (also on FF 3.6.13)

    Me Again,

FYI: I'm using the Grease Monkey script Jefferson posted in the Thread: Complaints (still) {what happened to the tiny urls for other posts?}. I don't know if this could be causing problems so I thought I'd mention it. I sure hope it isn't the problem because I just love what it does for these old eyes when viewing the main lounge page (Thanks Again Jefferson)!

    RG,

I'm not using any scripts, and the problem is still persisting - when I return to my usual forums after several hours away, all threads are marked as unread, except the threads that have new posts - those are marked as read! Clicking on Mark This Forum Read opens all the envelope icons.

btw, I just deleted a duplicate of your last post. Funny, when I posted yesterday, that post came up as a duplicate too....

    I'm Just Getting Too Old!

Ok, I screwed up big time. You all know that old saw about the word ASSUME.

Well, I assumed that the open letter icon met there was something new and the closed letter icon met I'd read it all. Well if I had just scrolled to the bottom of the page where the key is...

I'll get used to this new software soon I promise!

    Sorry!

    RG,

Thanks for pointing out the legend.
In this case, I don't think either of us were losing our marbles: while I'm always open to the possibility of being wrong, in this case I could swear that up until a couple of days ago, the open envelope icon indicated unread posts, and the closed envelope icon indicated no unread posts. I do recall someone posting here recently to the effect that having the open envelope indicate unread threads seemed backwards.
My best guess is that sometime in the past couple of days, someone behind the scenes flipped these icons, both functionally and in the legend.

I do agree the icons make more sense now, than they did previously, so fine with me if it stays this way.

Well, I just made a screenshot of the Legend, and once again, the "open" envelope indicates unread, and the "closed" envelope indicates no unread.

Interesting! This may be a browser/compatibility issue - perhaps the icons were recently swapped, but the change is only working on some browsers? Which browser are you using?

    Gary,

I can't see how the browser would affect the display of the legend?

I'm sure you're right. I was just thinking in terms of a possible separate stylesheet, for example for IE6. But I don't know enough about that stuff to know whether it would affect the legend - and not relevant anyway since Rebel is using IE8.
Oh well, I have to say, I'm already getting used to the way the envelopes are looking now!

OK, not making this up - the Icon Legend just flipped around again today - and all my envelopes in all forums are the reverse of what they were yesterday!
