Question Non-Deletable 0 in Word Header

I have a document which I did not create that will not let me delete a 0 that appears in the header. Trying to update 2010 to 2011, the last 0 remains. I have tried deleting the entire header, but the 0 is still there. No matter what I try, it sticks to the document like superglue. It will move with the text, but it won't leave. Doesn't seem to be a page number. I can change anything else in the document. I'm out of ideas. Attached.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

Well that is indeed strange. I have 2007, and can't delete it either.

Workaround: Select the zero character, and change it's colour to white. It won't be removed, but it won't be seen either.

It is a corruption in the header. If you open it in Word 2010 (and probably 2007) and save it in docx format, you can then delete the zero. Then save it back as a doc.

Alternatively, saveas RTF, close it, open it, delete the zero and saveas a doc again.

    Thanks.

Thanks. Saving as an alternate file type worked. I kept thinking I was missing something, but "corrupt file" works for me.
