    Chrome 9 available

According to PC World it should download and install automatically the next time you start Chrome. Worked for me but did take a while.

Update: Well this is great! Windows Secrets seems to be working much better in Chrome 9 than it did in FF 3.6.13. Looks like I'll be using Chrome at least for my WS work! Everything is quicker and works better. I even installed the Script to highlight forums with unread messages in Yellow, works great. You do not need to install GreaseMonkey the scripts are supported natively in Chrome 9! Just drag the file into the Chrome window and answer the install prompts & restart.

RG, which script is that to use the highlighting thing. I'm actually using Chrome 10 beta but I would thing the script should work.

I think he's referring to post #787064. See attached original version.

Edit: I have updated the script a bit, because I find that after reading everything in a forum and posting something, then returning to the index, it tells me there still is an unread post even though I can see that I was the last poster. If you want to stop highlighting those, use version 0.2 instead.

(Opps! Bad download. Retry gets the uncorrupted .JS file. Thanks, PJ)

Also, besides drag-and-dropping the .JS file into the Chrome window, Chrome needs to be started with the "--enable-user-scripts" command line option in the application shortcut (took me forever to find out that missing bit!).

Jefferson, I get the displayed script error when running your script v0.2. Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't think you can run it in the Windows Script Host, only in a browser in the context of the Lounge.

Um, how? This seems to fall slightly above my pay grade knowledge level.

    So in Firefox, you would:

    (1) Install the Greasemonkey add-on and make sure it is enabled, then
    (2) Drag the .user.js file onto an open Firefox window and OK the installation in a dialog that pops up.

It sounds as though in Chrome you do not need to install an add-on, but you may need to enable the function if step #2 doesn't work automatically.

Well, that may be a switch that's no longer supported or needed (web site was very old), though I did find why I had problems installing the script (besides a curious corrupt download):

User scripts must end with ".user.js" so when I extracted the file from in the _V0-2.zip, there was already a script with that name (from the other .zip file) so I renamed it "highlight_forums_with_ne.user.0-2.js". Dragging this file to Chrome displayed the contents of the file, but would not install it no matter how I held my mouth while dragging it! Simply renaming it to "highlight_forums_with_ne.0-2.user.js" solved this neo's problems.

Maybe my personal "fun with scripts" episode can prevent others from such "happiness"!

Thanks for sharing this script with the community. It did let this old dog learn a new trick.

Got it to work. Not sure what the advantage might be. Will have to see if it's something I wish to keep. Thanks for sharing it!

Leaving it for now. Perhaps I will see a bigger advantage as time goes on. I'm wondering if I will have to re-enable this each time I update my Chrome 10 beta to another version. I suspect so. Oh well, such is the life of a beta user!
