Rotating Laptop Display?

Ok fellow loungers here's one to lighten up your day. I'm sitting in my lounger {of course I on the lounge} using my logitech wireless keyboard {in my lap} & mouse {on the chair arm}. All of the sudden I need to scratch my back so I lean forward and that darn middle {ok OLD} age spread lands on the keyboard and my screen blanks then returns UPSIDE DOWN! I 'don't believe it you say see picture.

Ok, what stupid key combination did I hit? Being an analytic programmer type I take the scientific approach and lean forward again! Presto chango blank screen then back it comes rotated 90 degrees to the left, ah if I set the laptop on it's side I have a portrait display {see pic}. No this just won't do.

Google...Google... 1st post says the other day my cat was laying on my keyboard....

Well who knew, I certainly didn't, that Ctrl+Alt + arrow key rotates the screen to the direction of the arrow. At least on my Dell.

Same thing happens on my Toshiba . Likely means you have an Intel graphics adapter and you can actually disable that behavior, if you want to scratch your back without further rotation issues .

Stop those Intel 'helpers' from starting with Windows, it'll probably cure it.

And , if you don't have an Intel card you can experience the same effect by standing on your head...

I am unable to stand on my head. . . . help! Seriously, I lost some weight and no longer have as significant of a problem when I scratch my back. . . . Seriously, my Sony Vaio does not do this with the same key strokes. I will have to experiment to see what combination does. I read it someplace but do not remember????? Must have escaped through the bald head. . . . damn!

Well, if you were as tech savvy as me then you would just turn the monitor upside down and save all the effort of standing on your head.

Ok after reading the posts I did some more research. Yes I do have an Intel Graphics Adapter use Ctrl+Alt+F12 to start program. Unfortunately, you can't disable just those settings you have to disable all Hot Key settings. You can change the hot keys but you can't disable individual ones go figure.

I do however like the ability to have a portrait display by turning the laptop on it's side like a book {who needs a kindle!} and since I'm using a wireless keyboard and mouse that works just fine.

Ted, good for you, I've been fighting the spare tire my entire life, guess it's in the genes!

My version of the Intel Graphics Adapter software has a Rotation checkbox, that you can uncheck to stop the undesired rotation through the keyboard. It seems to be quite a bit different from yours, but the said checkbox is located within the Display options. Maybe have a look and check whether you have it too.

I have an ATI Radeon Mobility adapter and did not find the aforementioned rotation ability in my adapter, oh well!

Sorry but my version of the utility doesn't offer that option.:rolleyes:
