IE9 RC will overwrite IE8. You can always go back, but I am sure after trying the IE9 RC you won't want to go back. Kinda like going back to XP after using Win 7, NEVER!

Well, from what I have read it's supposed to be really good.

I'll think about it today and decide what to do...

I'll make a separate image before I install it just in case..

I did as well, then another Image after installation. Very prudent, and cheap insurance.

Sure, that's the way to go.

You guys up there must have had plenty of snow.
I got hammered down here, at least 3' still on the ground and no Jan. thaw this year...

Downstate actually got more for a change. We have our share and then some, but the thaw at the end of Dec. helped hold down amount still on ground. We've had close to 90 inches this winter so far.

Ahem, getting off subject a little, sorry!

The IE 9 beta was unusable on my laptop. I removed it and had IE 8 back. I am sure that will happen with the RC too.

I second Ted's opinion. The RC has still very small problems, but it has allowed me to get back to IE as my default browser. Feels great .

Any idea why it didn't work on your laptop?
I have a laptop also and may install it there also.

Maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow..

The PC I have the RC installed on is my laptop. I am very pleased with it. I do like the tabs on a different row capability.

The RC is on my laptop too. The beta, it just failed to display some of the websites that I visit regularly and I couldn't really use it, it was a nuisance. Once the RC was out I installed it on the desktop and the laptop, the two pcs I use everyday, and it works very well on both.

I just remembered, I can't install it on my laptop because that's running XP..

I'll install it tomorrow on my desktop and play with it.

I don't use tabs Ted, but maybe I will and see if I like them.

Installing a different version of IE, regardless of BETA, RC, or RTM status, replaces the current version of IE. You can get IE8 back by uninstalling IE9 RC.

Well Joe, I may be wrong but I seem to remember that after installing IE 8 you couldn't revert back to IE 7...

That depended on the order in which you installed IE8 and the service pack for XP or Vista. There may be a similar situation with IE9 & Windows 7 SP-1.

I just finished installing IE9RC and it removes IE8. By the time this post has its first read, my pc will be back to what is was from the image I made before installing IE9RC (Real C**P)
It has 2 close buttons, 2 Fav. buttons and 2 tools buttons. Their are probably more but wont be looking for them.
My home page is iGoogle, using only 3 addons, 2 of them dont work. Time and Date and Days Since
I wish you all the best of luck.

I need help. Win 7 Home Pro, 64 bit.downloaded it and Adobe Acrobat crashes, iTunes has to be re-installed every 2nd use, RoboForm crashes, GoodSynch crashes, Mozy Home won't work. How do I uninstall it or does anyone have any thoughts? Words can barely express how frustrated I am. tia
