Want a pop-up showing first lines of first post?

I posted in another thread the following, which led to this poll.

"Can we get a popup showing beginning of a post?
Another forum using vBulletin® Version 3.8.2 will show me a popup of the beginning of each post, as the cursor is placed on the title. This is very convenient for deciding whether to click on the post to read further (especially considering the response time I'm getting from ws servers). I don't see a setting for that on my end; could you effect such a feature on this version? Thanks."
Would you like to see a popup, showing the first lines of the original post in a thread, while your cursor is on the header? Please participate in the poll, above. Thanks.

For historical information, the related thread (now closed, so post here) is: Can we get a popup showing beginning of a post?.

Maybe I should have mentioned nudity, or sex, in the title; we don't have many reader/voters, apparently. ;-)

I belong to another forum that is now using the same format as this one. In that forum they are using the pop ups and it drives me batty! just my $.02 worth.
    Thanks John

Perhaps there is a software tweak that could attach the preview to a smaller area rather than having it pop up over the entire listing?

I don't know if this will help, but another forum I use (vBulletin 3.8.2, though) has a pop-up that is unobtrusive. Wherever you run your cursor down the page, the pop-up stays to the right of that point. Maybe this version could be done the same way. You can see it at:

That is so unobtrusive I don't see anything at all.

Well, I was going to print-screen mine to show you, but when I hit 'Alt', the pop-up goes away.
I don't know why yours doesn't work like mine.

Do the screen capture without using Alt. Alt just restricts the screen capture to the current Window. You can capture everything, then crop the resulting image.

Yep, I figured that out. Everything showed up except for the cursor - it would always be at the top left of the pop-up. You do not have to put the cursor on the text itself; you can put it anywhere on that line. Looks ideal to me.

I have tried with three different browsers, and I don't see the popup any of them: FF3.6, IE8 and Chrome 9.

Well, if we figure out what causes that, it might make all the nay-sayers happy, because then they could set theirs up like yours and not see a pop-up. ;-)

On another note, just how did you get that "hand" cursor to show up on your screen print? I've been searching the net for how to do it, and all I find are suggestions of special programs to do it. Seems like Windows should have an easily changed option for making it show on a screen print?????

I use IrfanView which has a screen capture facility built in. Normally I just use Print Screen, and paste into IrfanView, but when I want to capture the cursor I use the IrfanView facility.

I did not do anything that I know of to stop the popups working. And I have seen it work at other vBulletin forums.
