    UAC defeated ?

A funny happened to me a few days ago. I was constantly asked to approved UAC but I could not as the "Yes" was greyed-out. I got to Control Panel -> User Accounts and tried to reset the UAC settings but again I was asked to approve the change but still the "Yes" was greyed-out. Having no more options, I Restored to 8 days before and the trouble is gone.

Has anybody heard of this before, it was after I had received 10 MS updates and 1 Java update ? Long live Restore !

A side note : this was first obvious to me as I was trying to upload a .jpg to Picasa, it asked for approval to install X-something on a yellow line above the main screen, UAC could not be approved.

Any other experience of this and could it have been self-inflicted ?

    Have a great day. Jean.

I have not experienced this issue. You should try installing the patches one at a time and testing UAC after each install. If a patch caused the problem then you should be able to indentify the culprit.

    UAC fine now.

JoeP, thanks for your come back.

I had done this and it was time taking but worth the while. After redoing the 11 updates, one at the time, UAC is fine. It might have been a quirk in the install of any one or again, something else. I will never know.

    Be good. Jean.
