AOL vs. IE 5.5

Just found a thread opening v. slowly with IE, so tried switching to AOL and found it opened immedately (before IE had managed to get there). Any ideas as to why?

I'd kill for cable (possibly not literally), but currently a bit too rural to get it.

Need a 'famer chewing a stalk of wheat' type smilie for rural. Seen anything like that?

Tell us what page it was, then maybe we can identify the problem.

I used IE 5.5 and Netscape something at my last job (well, not my *last* job, just the one before I start the new one) over a T1 line, and IE was ALWAYS faster. It must have something to do with the particular page. Although, I have had times when a single thread or a single post in a thread had problems opening but everything else was OK.

Not sure, but it was probably the last post I made on this thread. I am beta testing AOL 7, so that might have an impact.

Nice! What are the chances of getting it as a smilie? Hope you don't mind mind my stealing it anyway!

Right now, I would consider any 'type', as long as I don't have to play Dungeons and Dragons.

A wierd board (or online) game involving vaguely mythalogcal characters and funny shaped dice. I tend to see it as a synonym for serious computer games playing. I can manage Tetris and Spider Solitaire, but nothing more complicated.

I have a hard time playing checkers! I watched my hubby and a friend play Cribbage - forget it! Same with Chess - forget it! Daughter plays Spider Solitaire with so much ease...I got tired just watching her...I ended up with a ...altho when I was younger, I was able to do the Rubick's cube in 3 minutes.

Rory used to play cribbage. Never got the hang of it , myself. Spider Solitaire depends on the number of suits you choose and the o/s you use. It comes with Me, but only works properly with 98 or 2k, as far as I can tell.

Most people who can do the cube just learnt the moves (like me), but the scary people are the ones who could just pick one up and solve it!
