Question Outlook 2002 passwords not saved in Windows 7

Hi all, I have a question about older Outlook.

I just built a new computer with 64-bit Windows 7.

I installed my Office XP from my old computer, and it seems to work just fine. However, Outlook will not remember my POP3 email passwords, even though I can save them in the email settings.

I have seen some information that older Outlooks are not compatible with Win7 due to password security or some such. I have even heard that Microsoft has a patch somewhere to fix this. But I cannot find good information, or the patch, or even anyone who knows whether it works.

I prefer Office XP to Office 2010 because Word is much easier to use, and so I'd rather not pay to upgrade if I don't have to.

Any help y'all could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I think you are out of luck. See Outlook 2002 does not save password - Windows 7 Forums.
